Senior Solicitor - Litigation & Tribunals

Under the direction of the Director, Legal & Procurement Services, the Senior Solicitor – Litigation & Tribunals is responsible for the provision of a full range of legal services to the Corporation, its boards and agencies, including full carriage of litigation matters before all levels of court and all administrative tribunals. Undertakes research, the preparation of legal opinions, agreements and documents, and the review of legislation, by-laws, policies, and regulations. Advises on procurement, lease and license matters.

Credentials: Completion of a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) or equivalent) and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), and qualified to practice law in Ontario. Demonstrated experience in practice of law, preferably in a municipal or related practice area with focus on litigation, procurement, real estate, and/or general municipal matters. Progressive experience with attending Superior Court, Local Planning Appeal Tribunal and/or tribunals matters. Class “G” Drivers’ Licence in good standing with reliable vehicle for occasional use occasionally on corporate business. Due to the responsibilities of this position a Police Information Check satisfactory to the Municipality is required.
