Operator - Water/Waste Water

Reporting through the Supervisor, Water/Wastewater and under the direction of the Lead Hand, Water/Wastewater the Operator, Water/Waste Water is responsible for performing infrastructure maintenance programs for water distribution system, waste water/storm water collection systems, sewage pump stations, and storm water retention facilities. Operators must be competent persons as per Provincial regulations. Operators will, as required, be appointed OIC Operator-In-Charge to oversee worksite.

Credentials: Minimum Grade 12 diploma required (to obtain MOECC certificate) and demonstrated previous experience in the infrastructure maintenance field including operating and maintenance programs, associated materials and supplies, health and safety regulations. Ministry of Environment Operator-in Training (O.I.T.) Certificates in Water Distribution and Waste Water collection or acquired before the completion of the 6-month probationary. Obtain Ministry of Environment Certificates Class 1 in Waste Water Collection and Class 1 Water Distribution in accordance with Provincial Regulations and continue to attend internal and external Director approved training sessions. Confined Space Entry Certification, Basic First Aid and CPR Certification or attained within probationary time period. Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing. Ability to obtain “DZ” endorsement within six-month probationary period. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
