Senior Environment & Climate Change Specialist

Under the direction of the Director, Engineering Services, the Senior Climate Change Specialist is responsible for implementing a strategic approach to environmental engagement and investment that is aligned with the Municipality’s initiatives and Council priorities in meeting the challenges of climate change, related to storm water management. Leads cross-corporate groups and taskforces to research, develop, recommend, and implement policies on proposed initiatives and recommendations. Leads the implementation of work supporting Council objectives related to Storm water Management facilities (storm water ponds, swales, etc.), capital infrastructure projects and programs in consultation with other municipal departments’ programs. Working closely with the Asset Management business unit and others, ensures that work undertaken is in alignment with future storm water management needs, climate change initiatives, and the advancement of strategic objectives.

Credentials: Post-secondary degree in Engineering or a related discipline in Environmental Sustainability, Water Resource Management, or the equivalent in combined education and experience. Post-graduate (Master’s) degree in a related discipline would be an asset. Certification in erosion and sediment control required. Progressive demonstrated experience in environmental applied research or sustainability; certification in erosion and sediment control required. Class “G” Driver’s license in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
