Manager, Finance & Accounting
Under the direction of the Director, Financial Services, the Manager, Finance & Accounting is responsible for the management and implementation of the work and the achievement of the objectives within the Finance and Accounting Business Unit. This position is responsible for financial management of the municipality including accounts payable, corporate purchasing cards, investments and financial reporting and analysis functions, long range plans, financial policies, advising on and implementing financial strategies, compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, payroll services, as well as to act on behalf of the Director, Financial Services as required. This position also fulfills the duties of the Deputy Treasurer under the Municipal Act.
Credentials: Post-secondary degree in finance/ business administration and a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Advanced knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and provincial and Public Sector Accounting Standard (PSAS) financial reporting requirements and Municipality’s bylaws and policies. Progressively responsible experience at a senior supervisory level in a municipal environment. Demonstrated experience in developing and monitoring internal controls to ensure adequate segregation of duties and safeguarding of assets. Due to the responsibilities of this position a Police Information Check satisfactory to the Municipality is required. Professional designations that include a Police Information Check will be considered.
