Long Term Care Clinical Specialist
Reports to the Director of Long-term Care.
The Clinical Specialist provides vision and leadership to improve overall clinical and quality/risk/outcomes. The incumbent is responsible for leading the clinical program and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care teams within the organization and across the industry to ensure care and service in accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes’ Act and Regulations. Creates, modifies and reviews policies and procedures to ensure best practice and legislative requirements are met. Leads and supports each care community’s Director of Care with the coordination of clinical services, including development, program management and evaluation, continuous quality improvement activities and adherence to regulatory, and best practice guidelines.
Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited university. Master’s degree in health management or public sector management or business administration (preferred). Experience in a long-term care leadership role with extensive experience working in long term care. Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in key clinical programs including Skin & Wound, Infection Control, Pain, Continence, Medication Management and Dementia Care. Current certificate of registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Membership in RNAO or relevant professional associations (preferred); Canadian Nurses Association certification in gerontology or other relevant specialty (preferred).
