Library Technician II

Responsible for providing reference and readers advisory service to the public in the Library. Maintains and inputs into the information databases. Locates and verifies information in the Library’s collection or in other Libraries. Provides copy cataloguing and modification and original cataloguing when required. Assists with collection maintenance. Instructs and assists the public in the proper use of microfilm reader/printers, photocopiers, computers and printers, the Internet and the Online Public Access Catalogues (OPAC). Analyses and reports cataloguing software problems (e.g., Machine Readable Cataloguing – MARC – codes) to supervisor to consult with Systems Manager. Develops, plans and delivers literacy-based programs, group visits, and outreach programs to community partners. Coordinates publicity, registration, contractor services, and staff and other resources for public programming. Coordinates volunteer-based programs and services. Contributes to staff training and scheduling and to evaluation of programs and services. Coordinate schedules for staff.

Credentials: Library Technician Diploma. Experience working in a library environment.
