Reporting to the CEO/Chief Librarian the Adult Services Librarian is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the adult area in all branches and has the primary responsibility for inter-library loans. Selects, purchases, processes, and maintains adult collections (Audio, DVD & Magazine) in all branches as needed. Monitors budget allocations for adult collections (Audio, DVD & Magazine) using monthly and annual performance measures. Implements, monitors and when necessary, recommends changes to policies and procedures. Responsible for library patrons and facilities (client concerns, security, closing, etc.) as required by the schedule. Responsible for creation, modification, quality, and consistency of catalogue records in the automated library system database. Performs month-end duties. Compiles health & safety reports, statistical data, and performance measures on all aspects of library use, including library resources, services, and programmes. Issues library cards to new patrons; inputs patron information into the library automation system and provides orientation to the library’s services and procedures. Responds to complaints, identifies problems, and consults with appropriate staff for corrective actions and solutions. Relieves at other branches as directed. Back up for social media when the Digital Services person is unavailable. Opens and secures the building and performs minor janitorial duties where required. Acts as an In-Charge Person (ICP) when needed in the absence of the CEO with the Child & Youth Services Librarian.
Credentials: College diploma (Library and Information Technician program) or SOLS Excel certificate. Driver’s License. Vulnerable Sector Screening.
