Lead Hand - Water/Waste Water

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Water/Waste Water the Lead Hand – Water/Waste Water is responsible for performing, assigning and monitoring infrastructure maintenance programs for water distribution system; waste water/storm water collection systems, sewage pump stations and storm water retention facilities. Work also involves acting as Operator in Charge (OIC) under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Assigning and monitoring requires directing and guiding the work of assigned Operators and seasonal/contract staff and assisting with the development and execution of the annual work plan (daily, monthly, yearly).

Credentials: Minimum Grade 12 diploma with Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) Class 1 certificates in Waste Water Collection and Water Distribution as well as significant demonstrated experience in an infrastructure maintenance field relating to waste/storm water collection and pump station operations and maintenance, water distribution operations and maintenance, associated materials and supplies. Confined Space Entry Certification. Traffic control, Book 7 training. Class “D” Driver’s Licence with “Z” air brake endorsement in good standing. Where required, obtain Meter Installation Certificate. CPR and First Aid Certification, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and health and safety. Due to the responsibilities of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Screening satisfactory to the Municipality is required.
