Reporting to the Manager of the Museum & Archives, the primary role of the Engagement Manager is to develop, lead and manage a program of innovative and dynamic special projects to optimize visitation, revenue and reputation as a first-class museum and archives. This position is responsible for travelling and touring exhibits, special events and programs that align with the Museum’s vision, values and guiding principles. The Engagement Manager will ensure that the division produces the highest standard of service excellence to achieve the mission of engaging and educating communities in the human and natural history that help define the communities’ collective identity and guide the future. The position leads travelling and touring exhibits; assists with in-house exhibits; coordinates all aspects of exhibition rental logistics including scheduling, procuring, processing loans, shipping, ordering supplies, materials, and drafting partnership agreements. Duties can include developing and implementing strategies to reach and attract new audiences, building and maintaining relationships with partner institutions, museum colleagues, individual lenders/donors and community groups to further the mission and profile of the municipality. The position Implements and maintains financial management and control for the Engagement team, including the annual budget, financial analysis and multi-year capital forecast. In consultation with staff, the position analyzes attendance and revenue statistics and makes recommendations to the Manager to ensure budget targets are achieved.
Credentials: Degree in Museum Studies, History, Education, or related field. A community relations or public relations background in a similar setting.
