Reports to the Chief Administrative Officer to Council and to the Social Services Committee.
This position leads the planning, development, delivery and administration of all Social Services Department programs and any Social Services related program falling under the mandate of the Social Services Committee. Develops and oversee the implementation of operation and management systems and procedures to ensure compliance with government, corporate and department standards; including ongoing revisions as required to meet changing program and policy requirements. Works with other Department Heads on the development of consistent corporate management and administration policies supporting Labour Relations, Personnel, Finance, Information Technology, and Council/Staff Relations. Recommends appropriate strategy and presents information to the Director of Human Resources, Chief Administrative Officer and Council’s Finance and Personnel Committee on labour relations issues. Participates in direct negotiations with prevailing Union Locals, who represent some employees within the department.
Credentials: Honours Degree in Public Administration or Social Work with focus on Administration.
