Reporting to a Communications Manager or Senior Communications Officer, the Digital Communications Specialist supports the delivery of corporate communications through various media, ensuring content is clear, engaging, and consistent with Council direction and complies with the municipal brand. This position is responsible for developing and distributing digital content to increase awareness and engagement among stakeholders, designs, edits, and posts engaging content (website content, social media, newsletters, graphics, photos, and videos) across multiple platforms, collaborates with internal and external partners to research and develop digital content for both internal and external distribution, develops storyboards, scripts, and graphics, captures photos and videos of corporate events, properties, and other activities, The position performs photo and video editing and post-production, maintains an organized digital library of photo and video assets, designs a range of corporate documents and materials, such as reports, presentations, infographics, icons and more, writes copy for documents and communications, works with external graphic designers and contractors to support larger undertakings, communicates complex issues clearly and credibly with widely varied audiences using two-way communication to gain input and understanding, and ensures all communications are accessible as stated in Provincial legislation.
Credentials: University/College Degree/Diploma (3-year program minimum) in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, Business Marketing or other relevant discipline or related job experience. Knowledge of animation, web design and photography experience and asset.
