Deputy Fire Chief

Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief this position provides direction to Fire Services resources in support of two different and separate Municipalities. Efforts may be directed toward various aspects of the Fire Service including but not limited to planning, organizing, coordinating and directing of all fire suppression, public education, staff training, fire prevention, and fire related emergency services operations and programs. Primary focus is also on development, implementation, management and maintenance of the comprehensive emergency management plan, policies and procedures. The Deputy Fire Chief is responsible for seeking innovative approaches to continuous development and improvement of Divisional services and is required to display judgement and initiative on administrative, operational and technical matters, problems and decisions. A collaborative team builder the Deputy may provide input into and/or lead initiatives to advance the strategic direction of the service in a timely and effective manner.

Credentials: Academic credentials appropriate to the position complemented by progressive experience to the supervisory level within a Fire Services environment. Academic credentials will be considered in combination with experience and could include University Degree or Diploma in Public or Business Administration combined with formal Fire Protection training from the Ontario Fire College complemented by progressive Fire Services experience; or extensive Fire Services training and progressive Fire Services. Class G Driver’s license in good standing.
