Corporate & Community Initiatives Officer

Reporting to the CAO, the Corporate & Community Initiatives Officer is responsible for a diverse portfolio that contributes to a complete community, striving towards sustainability, creating a vibrant corporate culture, and supporting economic growth through the creative economy sector. Oversees the development and implementation of strategies and plans and forges strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to assist the CAO in delivering on council’s goals, key goals for the Office of the CAO, and contributes towards achieving the priorities of the municipal strategic plans. Coordinates the preparation of reports, studies and initiatives to Council and stakeholders related to sustainability and climate change, creative economy including culture, tourism and events, and customer service. Represents the corporation on selected committees, as appointed by the CAO and assists Committees in providing regular updates to Council. Develops and implements initiatives related to recreation and wellness, and the creative economy including culture, tourism, and events. Manages internal/external stakeholders to ensure services and activities, needs and plans are addressed. Oversees and implements priorities of the Municipality’s Economic Development Strategy, including tourism, community events, and economic development special projects. Support any staff appointed by the CAO to selected committees. Oversees the budget. Coordinates and manages key corporate projects. Manages projects and provides project status updates, including challenges/obstacles and completed tasks to CAO. Ensures staff compliance with department standards and operational guidelines, Occupational Health and Safety, TSSA, Public Health, ORFA, and Lifesaving Society. Handles escalated concerns brought forward by staff or customers. Ambassador for the municipality during all community interactions and events. Responsible for assisting committees, providing advice and support on matters affecting the municipality. Develops and facilitates community events or partnerships that influence economic, cultural and tourism initiatives. Implements innovative ideas to move the municipality forward, such as implementing software programs and building stronger partnerships with varied providers.
Credentials: Post-secondary diploma or University Degree in a related discipline. Graduate Certificate in Management. Specialized training, such as HIGH FIVE ®, Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
