Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, the Business Development Coordinator supports the delivery of the Corporation’s Economic Development Strategic Plan and the various business development programs that support business and economic growth. In addition, the coordinator implements projects and initiatives that support key sectors: energy, agriculture, and tourism. The Coordinator plans for, and implements, specific projects and programs that enhance business opportunities and support the overall economic priorities of the Corporation. This role provides assistance, training, education and support to individuals starting, expanding or running a small business, supports the Corporation’s small business strategy and promotes the Corporation as a destination for new business. The Business Development Coordinator manages day-to-day tasks related to the organization and coordination of project and program activities while participating on a variety of work teams and works with the Economic Development Officer to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Credentials: Post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Tourism, Community Development, Communications, or Public Relations. Experience in economic development or community development marketing, or communications, preferably in a government setting. Experience managing professional social media accounts, and in strategic development and initiative-based project leadership. Highly developed understanding of industry regulations, standards, and best practices, and a demonstrated ability to be fiscally responsible and suggest cost-saving measures.
