Reports to the Curator
This position assists the Curator with artefact acquisition, preservation and storage. Researches, evaluates, and tests treatment options, performs scientific analysis of material (e.g. chemical testing), and reports on findings. Prepares condition and treatment reports, including photographs, as required. Assists and advises staff on conservation matters (e.g., treatments on artefacts and reproductions, mounting exhibits, cleaning historic buildings and artefacts, and maintaining environmental monitoring equipment). Assesses environmental and physical conditions for external exhibitions of Municipal artefacts, including packing and transportation. Provides written articles for newsletters and other publications as necessary
Credentials: Diploma or degree in Conservation Studies from a recognized museum studies program and related experience at a museum and/or living history site. Possesses a Firearms Acquisition Certificate (or ability/willingness to obtain). A valid “G” Class driver’s license.
