Accounting and Budgeting Specialist

Reporting to the Deputy Treasurer, and working closely with the Total Compensation & Systems Team, the Accounting & Budgeting Specialist is responsible for budgeting all Corporate salaries and benefits on an annual basis as well as supporting the monthly and quarterly variance analysis and projections process. The Specialist is responsible for developing and managing the tools and reports utilized in the budgeting and projecting process in order to ensure accurate and timely provision of information to support management budgeting and decision making.

Credentials: Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce or Accounting, previous work experience in finance and/or payroll data management, and highly developed understanding of industry regulations, standards, and best practices. Advanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications. Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements. Public sector and unionized experience, a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA) are preferred.
